SiteGPT alternatives: chatbots that learn from your website
Yevhen Kurapov, co-founder · Updated Oct 20, 2026
SiteGPT has no free plan: Starter is $59 a month, or $39 billed yearly, with manual refresh and WhatsApp as a $59 add-on. Chatling ($25) and DocsBot ($49) re-read your site on a schedule and include WhatsApp. ChatPal is free for 100 replies and $20 for 500, with WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and Telegram on every plan.
We make ChatPal, one of the tools below, and list its limits on the same terms as everyone else's.
SiteGPT reads your website, trains a chatbot on it and answers visitors from what it read. The alternatives below do the same job. They differ in how much of your site they take in, how often they read it again, what a message costs on each AI model, and whether WhatsApp and Messenger come in the plan or as add-ons. We make ChatPal, one of the six, and say below where it fits and where it doesn't.
What SiteGPT's plans cover
Pages are counted in characters. Starter trains on up to 1,000 pages and 10 files, but SiteGPT counts a page as 2,500 characters of cleaned text, so a long policy page can use several. Growth covers 10,000 pages and Scale 50,000.
Messages depend on the model. Starter allows 4,000 GPT-4.1-mini messages a month, or 400 GPT-4.1 messages, or any mix in between. Packs of 5,000 extra messages are $59 a month.
Refresh depends on the plan. On Starter you refresh your sources by hand. Growth ($129 a month, or $79 billed yearly) re-reads them monthly. Scale ($429, or $259 billed yearly) does it weekly and scans your sitemap daily for new pages.
Channels are add-ons or upgrades. Starter lists no integrations. Messenger, Slack, Crisp and Google Chat start on Growth, Zendesk on Scale, and WhatsApp is an add-on at $59 a month per number, or $39 billed yearly. Removing the SiteGPT branding is $39 a month billed yearly.
There is no free plan. The 7-day trial needs a card.
Why people look for an alternative
From SiteGPT's own pricing page, three things push people to compare:
- Your content changes more often than you refresh. If prices, opening hours or stock move every week, manual refresh on Starter means the bot answers from old pages until someone remembers. Scheduled refresh starts at $79 a month on yearly billing.
- Your customers write on WhatsApp or Instagram. On SiteGPT that is $59 a month per WhatsApp number on top of the plan, and Instagram isn't on its integrations list.
- You want to try before you pay. Without a free plan, testing on real visitors means a card and a paid month after day seven.
When SiteGPT is still the right choice
Stay if your bot lives on the website and your content is fairly stable: a software product, documentation or a service business whose pages change a few times a year. Starter's 4,000 light-model messages are generous for $39 a month on yearly billing. SiteGPT also learns from YouTube videos and from Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive and GitHub, and Scale's daily sitemap scan picks up new pages without anyone adding them.
How we chose
We picked tools that learn from your website without a developer and publish their prices. On October 20, 2026 we read each one's pricing page and its documentation on sources, refresh and channels. We make ChatPal; we didn't test the others hands-on. The tools are grouped by the situation they suit, not ranked.

How each tool reads your site
The question behind a site-trained chatbot is simple: does it know what your website says today? Here is what each tool takes in and how it stays current, from each pricing page on October 20, 2026.
| Tool | How much it learns from | How it stays current |
|---|---|---|
| SiteGPT Starter | 1,000 pages of 2,500 characters, 10 files | Manual refresh |
| SiteGPT Growth | 10,000 pages, 100 files | Monthly, or manual |
| ChatPal | A whole site from its homepage, up to your plan's link limit, plus files | Reindex a page when it changes |
| Chatbase Hobby | 40 MB of training content | Manual resync; automatic from Standard |
| Chatling Starter | 10 million characters | Weekly or monthly; daily from Growth |
| DocsBot Personal | 5,000 source pages | Monthly; weekly from Standard |
| CustomGPT.ai Standard | 5,000 documents per agent | Manual; auto-sync from Premium |
Two practical notes. First, no tool here reads a page the moment you edit it, so after a price change, refresh that page yourself wherever you are. Second, a crawler only sees what the page serves without login. Prices behind a "request a quote" form or stock that loads after the page opens may never reach the bot.
ChatPal tidies each crawled page before storing it: menus, footers, cookie banners and form labels are dropped and the content is kept under its headings. Open a link once it is Ready to see the text the assistant will use, and switch to Edit to correct it. If your site has several languages, ChatPal crawls the one you point it at and skips translated copies of the same page; it still answers each customer in the language they write in.
What the same month costs
Take a website with about 300 conversations a month and three AI replies in each: roughly 900 replies on a light model. The second column adds WhatsApp on one number. Monthly billing, prices listed on October 20, 2026.
| Tool | Website only | Website plus WhatsApp |
|---|---|---|
| SiteGPT | $59 (Starter) | $118 (Starter plus the $59 add-on) |
| ChatPal | $50 (1,500 replies) | $50 |
| Chatbase | $80 (Hobby plus 1,000 credits) | $80 |
| Chatling | $25 (Starter, 1-credit model) | $25 |
| DocsBot | $49 (Personal) | $49 |
| CustomGPT.ai | $99 (Standard) | Not on its integrations list |
On yearly billing SiteGPT drops to $39, or $78 with WhatsApp, and Chatling to $21. Meta also charges for WhatsApp replies past 1,000 a month per number, billed to your Meta account, whichever tool sends them.
ChatPal isn't the cheapest here. Chatling and DocsBot cost less for this volume if you stay on their light models; a stronger model multiplies their credits per reply, while ChatPal counts every reply as one message. If your conversations are short and few, ChatPal's $20 plan for 500 replies or its free plan may be enough.
SiteGPT or ChatPal
Choose SiteGPT if:
- the website is your only channel and your pages rarely change;
- you train on YouTube, Google Drive, Dropbox or GitHub;
- you want new pages picked up from your sitemap every day, on Scale.
Choose ChatPal if:
- customers also message you on WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger or Telegram, and you want one assistant answering all of them from the same knowledge;
- you want to start free, with no card and no trial clock;
- you take bookings: ChatPal books through Calendly, Altegio or Google Calendar inside the chat.
Here is ChatPal answering from a demo salon's own price list, which is what a site-trained bot is for.

Moving from SiteGPT
- List your sources. Note the URLs, sitemaps and files your SiteGPT bot trained on. In ChatPal, open Knowledge, go to Website & links, paste your homepage and leave Single page only unticked to crawl the site. Upload files on the Files tab.
- Check what was kept. Open a few links once they show Ready and read the text. Add pages behind a login as files instead.
- Ask last month's questions. Use the Playground: under each answer you can see which sources it used. Fix the page or the instructions, not the answer.
- Swap the widget. Remove SiteGPT's script, then add ChatPal's chat widget from Integrations. Connect WhatsApp or Instagram from the same page if you need them.
